Alex + Mike's Elegant Seaside Soirée

Alex and Mike’s wedding was one for the books – an elegant seaside retreat where the couple celebrated a full and love-filled Labor Day weekend in classic New England style among their guests. From their beautiful church ceremony followed by a delicious cocktail hour and formal reception, the day was everything I’d hope for them and more. Not only did I have the honor of planning this event, but it also held a special place in my heart – these are two of my dearest friends, and it was truly an honor to stand beside them both on the day of the wedding and throughout the entire year of planning! I had the unique privilege of being present on the day, witnessing my friends tie the knot and enjoying the celebration, while my incredible team seamlessly managed and executed the logistics. What a truly special event! ♡

The weekend kicked off with a clambake style rehearsal dinner at The Borsari Gallery followed by a welcome reception at Linx Tavern, a delightful venue hidden away within the Ocean Edge Villas golf course clubhouse.

On the day of, there were so many details I adore, but among them were certainly the elegant, pale blue crepe gowns the bridesmaids donned, reminiscent of the end of summer and the feel of the resort on the ocean.

Getting married in the Catholic church was important to Alex and Mike, and we found the most intimate, lovely chapel nearby – the Immaculate Conception in Brewster. The ceremony honored tradition, with the beautiful bride walking down the aisle to a gorgeous rendition of Ave Maria. After the recessional, the delighted couple rang the chapel’s wedding bell – which hilariously broke as they rang it! These two sure knew how to walk into their marriage with a bang!

Following the reception, the bridal party and newlyweds rode to Ocean Edge Resort in an adorable trolley. Cocktail hour was held on the Ocean Terrace at sunset – yes, it was as beautiful and romantic a setting as it sounds – and the menu featured a classic, New England-inspired Cape Cod Bay raw bar with Brewster oysters, Pleasant Bay oysters, jumbo shrimp, and poached Maine lobster, as well as a yummy selection of passed hors d'oeuvres including mini crab cakes, sea scallops wrapped in bacon, and a fabulous charcuterie spread.

Much like Alex and Mike themselves, the reception was full of life! The talented band played “Larger Than Life” by the Backstreet Boys to introduce the newlyweds and “Crush” by the Dave Matthews Band for their first dance – two more fitting song choices couldn’t have been found! Delicious food and drinks followed, accompanied by the most meaningful speeches from their loved ones.

When planning the reception details, we paid special attention to creating moments that paid tribute to Alex’s late mother. From limoncello shots – a nod to her Italian heritage – to displaying family photos throughout and the incorporation of a special quote cherished by the family, her mom’s presence was beautifully woven throughout and her memory honored.

The evening ended on a sweet note, with a Funfetti wedding cake and an assortment of mini pastries. My favorite? The cannolis!
